The Key to Inspiration

I discovered something super powerful that I want to share with you.

In the past, I wouldn't sit down to create if I didn't feel inspired.

BUT...

I often didn't feel inspired and was barely ever creating. And then I realized something that changed everything.

If I started moving my hands, making marks on a page, drawing whatever, THEN the inspiration would come and I would get lit up about something I wanted to draw.

What??? That seems backwards. But it has been very true for me.

I have drawn every day for over a year. Every day. Even the days I was in the ER. Some days it was a quick drawing in Procreate Pocket on my phone. Some days I drew similar flowers over and over. But it kept my hands moving and it kept the door to inspiration open. I often felt ideas come on the days I wanted to draw the least! And drawing every day means I haven't let myself get rusty so when an idea does strike, I'm ready.

This takes some of the pressure off of having to come up with ideas out of thin air, right??

I hope this helps you avoid wasting tons of time like I did. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
